I love the aquarium hobby! I was introduced to it
over 60 years ago, when I was ten years old,
by my mother with a large brandy snifter sitting in the middle of our dining room table. It probably held
about 1 1/2 gallons with a few plants, gravel, a few fish and a couple of snails. I can still remember
that tank and the wonder
of the fish, plants and the snails. Today, you will still see that combination
in most of my tanks. To me,
a tank without plants, gravel and snails is like a martini without an olive. It
might taste ok, but
something's lacking.

Check out our Red Bahia page about
breeding
this neat fish. |

A beautiful, feisty plakat given to me by Jim Sonnier. 1st time I tried to
breed him he killed the female in two hours. 2nd time, chewed up the fins
of the female but bred. He ate the young as soon as they hatched. 3rd
time, very small spawn, in progress. Update: No fry and he passed away. Such is our
hobby.
